Nowadays I often forget J. Cole ever had a role in the Kendrick Lamar/Drake beef. But before there was “Not Like Us,” there was Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” on which Kendrick made a guest appearance to declare: “Motherfuck the big three, it’s just big me.” That line was referencing Cole’s previous claim dubbing himself, Kendrick, and Drake today’s “Big Three” emcees. In April 2024, Cole bitterly responded with the surprise mixtape Might Delete Later, which was relatively forgotten after the “Not Like Us” craze. Now, Cole is reportedly being sued over a song off that tape, but not for the reason you might think.
